Connect Slack

Connect Slack so you can ask Binary about your candidates and forms directly from your Slack workspace.

What it is

The Slack integration lets you "ask questions to Binary directly from Slack" - mention the Binary bot in your Slack workspace and it answers about your candidates and forms, like the in-app assistant. Once Slack is connected, each person can also choose to receive their Daily brief in Slack (see Notifications).

Connect / disconnect

  1. Go to Settings → the Integrations tab → the Slack row ("Ask questions to Binary directly from Slack") → Connect.
  2. Click Connect and authorize Binary in your Slack workspace. On success you'll see "Slack connected successfully" and the section shows "Connected to {workspace}."
  3. To remove it, click Disconnect and confirm ("The bot will no longer be able to respond to mentions in your Slack workspace. You can reconnect anytime.").

Notes & limits

  • Slack works on every plan, including Free - there's nothing to upgrade for. (In the same Settings → Integrations tab, the LinkedIn and org-wide Google Calendar integrations do need a paid plan and show Upgrade instead.)
  • Admins connect and disconnect Slack.
  • A Slack workspace can be connected to one Binary workspace at a time (you'll see a conflict message otherwise).
  • The Daily brief to Slack is available only after Slack is connected. Until then, turning on Slack for your brief prompts you to "Connect Slack from the Integrations tab".
