The candidate detail view
Open a candidate to see their answers, files, AI review, comments, interviews, and message thread - and act on them.
What it is
Clicking a candidate on the Responses page opens their detail view - everything about that one candidate in a focused, full-screen layout. You can read their application, review their profile, leave private notes, and take action (change stage, message, schedule an interview).
Read their application
The Overview tab holds the candidate's answers to every question, including uploaded files, video answers, and links - see View and download résumés and files. Where AI review is enabled on the form, the AI's assessment sits alongside them. Their source and the date they applied are shown at the top, so you can tell an applicant apart from someone referred or added by an admin.
Three more tabs carry the rest: Messages for the thread with the candidate, Interviews for what's scheduled and any feedback left, and Assignments for take-homes you've sent and their answers. See Message candidates, Schedule an interview, Add interview feedback, and Send and review assignments.
Act on the candidate
Archive and Shortlist move the candidate in one click, with keyboard shortcuts A and S; a dropdown beside them covers your other stages. The ··· menu holds Edit, Move to send the candidate to another form (Move a candidate to another form), and Delete.
Add labels to group candidates (Add and manage labels), and leave comments as private notes for your team - candidates never see them.
Check the history
A "Recent activity" card lists this candidate's stage moves, newest first, with who moved them and when. It covers stage changes only, not messages, interviews, or comments; use "See more" to expand the full history.
When Binary spots other profiles that look like the same person, a "Possible duplicate" card lists each match with its form and stage so you can open and compare them. Binary flags these without merging anything, so deciding what to do with a duplicate is yours.
Move between candidates
Use the previous and next controls, or the arrow keys, to move through candidates without returning to the table; a counter shows your position within the current stage. The detail view opens in a streamlined fast mode built for working through a list quickly.
Notes & limits
- Comments are internal - only your team sees them, never the candidate.
- What you can see may be limited by field protection (some columns can be restricted to specific people - see Protect a column).
- Anyone with access to the form can open candidates and add comments, labels, and stage changes.
