This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") explains how Binary collects, uses, and discloses personal information through its online platform (the "Platform"). By using or accessing the Platform in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Policy, and you hereby consent that we will collect, use, and share your personal information in the following ways. Any capitalized terms that are not defined in this Policy are defined in our Terms of Service.
While using our Platform, you will have the opportunity to provide us with certain personal information. In addition, we may collect certain information automatically through your use of the Platform. We will use this information to provide you with the functionality of our Platform, to improve our Platform, and to provide you with information about our Platform.
When you create an account with Binary, we collect basic information such as your name, email address, and password. This information is essential for creating and maintaining your personal account and providing you with a customized experience.
We automatically collect certain information about how you interact with our Platform, including your IP address, browser type, operating system. This helps us understand user behavior and improve our services.
When you communicate with us through our Platform, email, or other channels, we may collect and store that correspondence. This includes any feedback, support requests, or general inquiries you submit to us.
Our Platform uses Google APIs for two limited purposes: authenticating users via Google Login, and reading files from Google Drive when users explicitly choose to import them.
We request access to basic Google profile information (such as name and email address) for account authentication, and Google Drive (read-only scope) when you choose to import a file. The Drive access is requested only when you choose to import a file from Google Drive - this is entirely optional and based on your specific use case. We do not request write, edit, or delete permissions on any file.
Profile data (name and email) is used to authenticate users and associate their account with our Platform. The accessed Google Drive data is used exclusively for the specific import operation you initiate - for example, to read a document stored in a Google Drive link you provide. We do not use Google data for analytics, marketing, or advertising.
We do not share any Google user data with third parties. The data accessed from Google is used strictly within our Platform to perform the specific operation you requested, such as user authentication or fetching file content. No data is sold, shared, or transferred outside our system.
When you import a file from Google Drive, we store the file content you have chosen to import on our Platform. However, we do not store the access permissions granted during the import process. This means we cannot access your Google Drive in the future unless you explicitly grant permission again for a new import. All data is encrypted and securely stored using industry-standard protection (HTTPS/TLS, restricted access).
Google Drive access permissions are granted on a per-session basis for each import operation you initiate. Once the import is complete, we do not retain the ability to access your Google Drive. The imported file content is retained on our Platform as part of your account data. Users can revoke our access to their Google account anytime from their Google Security Settings. To delete all account data and imported files, users may contact us at support@binary.so. Upon such a request, all related data, including imported files, authentication tokens, and account identifiers, will be permanently deleted from our systems.
The Platform might use third-party applications to perform tasks and/or to provide certain functionalities. These third-party applications may collect and store your personal information. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party applications. For example, we use AWS Cloud to store the files and images that users upload to the Platform.
Where and when required by the law, you have the right to request access, correction or erasure of your personal data. We may need to request information from you to confirm your identity. You can opt-out of receiving promotional communications from us by following the instructions provided in those communications.
We use commercially reasonable physical, managerial, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. In addition, we rely on the technical safeguards provided by the third party service providers we use to host, store, and process your personal information. The security of your personal data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and hence we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
We are constantly trying to improve the Platform, so we may need to change this Policy from time to time as well. The date of the last modification will also be posted at the beginning of this Policy. It is your responsibility to check from time to time for updates. By continuing to access or use the Platform, you are indicating that you agree to be bound by the modified Policy. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you through the email address you have provided us.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this Policy, please send us a message at support@binary.so.
