Bangalore
As Brand & Marketing Lead, you will work directly with the Head of Marketing / Founders to own ShopDeck's brand, content and creative, and social media presence end-to-end. You will operate as an execution partner — sharpening ShopDeck's positioning so every channel tells the same story, then owning the content, creative, and organic social that bring that positioning to life.
This is not a conventional brand-strategy or content-calendar role. It is a high-ownership, hands-on mandate for someone who can define a positioning worth building on, and just as quickly turn it into content, creative, and social output. Performance marketing (Meta/Google Ads) is a strong plus if you have it — not a requirement — and there's room to extend into it if that's part of your background.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience shaping brand positioning, directing content and creative, and running organic social for a consumer-facing or SMB-facing brand. Experience with performance marketing is a bonus, not a must-have.
What You'll Do
Brand Positioning & Identity
Define ShopDeck's positioning clearly enough to brief a designer or write content directly from it — what we say, to which seller segment, and why it beats marketplaces or competitors.
Build a lightweight, practical brand guide (voice and visual basics) that keeps content, creative, and social consistent across channels.
Sharpen this over time as you learn what's actually landing with sellers, rather than treating positioning as a one-time exercise.
Content & Creative
Own content and creative direction end-to-end — organic content, brand assets, and (if applicable) ad creative — working with designers, freelancers, or agencies to produce assets.
Set the content strategy across blog, video, and organic channels, including content that helps sellers find us organically.
Run a genuine test-and-learn loop: formats, hooks, and messaging angles, rather than shipping one version and hoping.
Social Media
Own ShopDeck's organic social presence end-to-end — platform choice, content calendar, actual posting, and community engagement.
Build out seller stories, testimonials, and behind-the-scenes content as a credible, low-cost creative source.
Customer Insight (informal, ongoing)
Talk to sellers regularly to understand what messaging, content, and creative angles actually land, and feed that back into briefs, positioning, and content.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Sales/Inside-Sales, Product, and Design to keep messaging and visual identity consistent across calls, landing pages, and in-app surfaces.
Report on brand, content, and social performance to leadership regularly.
Experience & Background
5–8 years of total experience in brand or marketing roles, with real hands-on experience directing content, creative, and social — not just approving what an agency sends.
Direct experience running organic social media for a brand — content, calendar, and community — not just overseeing someone else who did.
Comfort defining positioning and messaging, even without a formal research practice behind it.
Experience in a consumer-facing or SMB-facing Indian company — or direct D2C-enablement players.
Strong exposure to one or more of the following:
Brand positioning and messaging
Content and creative direction (organic and, if applicable, ad creative)
Organic social media and community management
Performance marketing (Meta/Google Ads) — a strong plus, not required
A portfolio of brand, content, and social work you can walk us through, including what worked and what didn't.
Comfort with performance data — able to look at content and creative-level metrics (engagement, CTR, conversion) and know what to change.
Skills & Mindset
Creative Judgment – Knows what makes content, creative, or a post actually land, and can brief a designer to get there.
Ownership Over Execution – Takes work from brief to published asset rather than stopping at strategy or recommendations.
Positioning Clarity – Distills who we're for and why into language simple enough to drive both an ad and a sales call.
Data-Informed Iteration – Reads creative-level and funnel metrics and knows what to test next.
Audience Empathy – Understands the Indian small-seller mindset well enough to write and design for them specifically, not a generic B2B audience.
Cross-Functional Influence – Aligns Sales, Product, and Design around one consistent story without needing formal authority.
Startup Agility – Operates effectively with limited structure, tight timelines, and evolving priorities.
Bias for Action – Moves quickly from a rough idea to a live post, piece of content, or creative asset.
What Success Looks Like
Content and creative output is consistent, on-brand, and resonating with sellers — engagement, saves, shares, or whatever's most relevant per platform.
A real, active social presence exists with growing engagement, not just a page that exists.
Positioning is sharp and consistent enough that Sales, content, and social are all telling the same story.
A lightweight positioning statement and brand guide are in active use, shaping new content and creative rather than sitting in an unopened doc.
If performance marketing becomes part of your scope, campaigns are measurably improving (CTR, conversion, cost-per-lead) — but this isn't a baseline expectation.
Leadership has clear, regular visibility into what's working across brand, content, and social.
