Role Overview
We are looking for a strong Backend Engineer (SDE 2) to build and scale reliable, high-performance backend systems. This role requires hands-on ownership of APIs, data models, and cloud-deployed services, working closely with product and frontend teams to deliver production-grade features.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and own backend services and REST APIs using Python and Django / Django REST Framework.
Build and optimize data models, schemas, and queries on PostgreSQL/MySQL for performance and reliability.
Translate product requirements into scalable, maintainable backend solutions.
Ensure code quality, security, and test coverage through reviews, documentation, and best practices.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and scalability constraints.
Deploy, monitor, and maintain backend services on cloud infrastructure.
Collaborate across engineering, product, and QA teams to deliver features end-to-end.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and operational stability.
Required Skills & Experience
3–5 years of hands-on experience in backend development.
Strong proficiency in Python and Django / Django REST Framework.
Solid understanding of relational databases, indexing, and query optimization (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
Proven experience in REST API design, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, ELB, S3, IAM, and RDS.
Experience configuring and maintaining web servers (Nginx / Apache).
Familiarity with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong debugging skills and a structured approach to problem solving.
Nice to Have
Experience with microservices architectures and asynchronous systems.
Hands-on exposure to message queues or background workers (Celery, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
Experience with automated testing (Pytest, unittest).
Prior work on high-traffic or consumer-scale platforms (e-commerce, SaaS, marketplaces).
Exposure to production monitoring, logging, and incident handling.
