About the role
The job, in one line: figure out what's actually worth talking about.
When a guest comes on, most podcasts go through the same five beats every other show has already covered. Your job is to find the angle nobody has bothered with. The thing the guest hasn't said in 20 other interviews. The detail you noticed that nobody else caught.
Quick example. Say a film star is coming on. The lazy version is the career walkthrough. Start at the start, hit the milestones, land on what they're promoting. That's bad. If that's how you'd open the conversation, this isn't the job for you.
Your job is to make Prakhar's life easy before recordings. By the time he sits down with a guest, the work should already be done.
What you'll do
Research guests deeply. Their work, their old interviews, what they've been saying lately, what they've stopped saying.
Build episode briefs around the threads worth pulling on, not the obvious ones.
Stay on top of news, X, YouTube, Reddit. You should be first to know things in the room.
Watch recordings back and flag the moments worth highlighting later.
What we're looking for
Chronically online. You probably check X before brushing your teeth.
You have strong taste. You can name 5 podcasts whose conversations you respect, 5 you don't, and explain why.
You notice things other people miss. Especially absences. (Why did this person stop posting for 3 weeks? Why did they delete that tweet?)
1 to 3 years anywhere in podcasts, content, journalism, or social. The reflex matters more than the resume.
About PGX
PGX (The Prakhar Gupta Xperience) is a long-form podcast based in Delhi, hosted by Prakhar Gupta. Past guests include Aamir Khan, Arvind Kejriwal, Aravind Srinivas, Vir Das, Piyush Mishra, and Ashish Chanchlani. Top names from every genre. We don't do interviews. We have actual conversations, across two formats: Raw & Real (people who've made it big or lived through something) and PGX Ideas (deep dives with thinkers shaping the future). We're growing fast, and this is the year we go global.
