The Director of Photography (DOP) is responsible for leading the visual execution of all video productions, ensuring every frame reflects the highest standards of cinematography, lighting, composition, and storytelling. The DOP collaborates closely with Creative Strategists, Directors, Producers, and Editors to translate creative concepts into visually compelling content across commercials, branded campaigns, podcasts, YouTube content, and social media productions.
The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with a strong creative vision, thrives in fast-paced production environments, and has the ability to lead on-set teams while consistently delivering cinematic, high-quality visuals.
Lead the visual execution of all assigned productions, ensuring consistency with the creative vision and brand guidelines.
Plan and execute camera setups, framing, lighting, movement, and shot composition for various content formats.
Develop visual styles that enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
Ensure every production maintains high cinematic and technical standards.
Collaborate with Creative Strategists, Producers, and Directors during pre-production to understand creative objectives.
Participate in script breakdowns, storyboard reviews, shot planning, and technical recce sessions.
Recommend appropriate cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and production techniques based on project requirements.
Prepare detailed shot lists and visual references before each shoot.
Lead camera operators, lighting technicians, focus pullers, and production crew during shoots.
Ensure efficient execution of the shooting schedule while maintaining creative quality.
Make real-time creative and technical decisions to overcome production challenges.
Ensure proper equipment setup, safety standards, and production readiness throughout the shoot.
Design and execute lighting setups that enhance mood, aesthetics, and storytelling.
Maintain consistency in exposure, color balance, composition, and overall image quality.
Ensure footage is captured with minimal technical issues, reducing the need for reshoots.
Adapt lighting and camera techniques for studio, indoor, outdoor, and live production environments.
Work closely with Video Editors and Colorists to maintain the intended visual style during post-production.
Provide technical guidance on footage selection, color grading, and final visual output.
Review final edits to ensure visual consistency and production quality.
Stay updated on the latest camera technologies, cinematography techniques, lighting equipment, and production workflows.
Experiment with new shooting styles, camera movements, and visual storytelling approaches.
Recommend improvements to production processes and equipment that enhance quality and efficiency.
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Cinematography, Film Production, Media, Visual Arts, or a related field (preferred).
5–8+ years of professional experience as a Director of Photography or Senior Cinematographer.
Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence across commercials, branded content, documentaries, podcasts, YouTube, and digital campaigns.
Experience working in creative agencies, production houses, media companies, or content studios.
Expertise in camera operation, composition, framing, and shot design.
Strong understanding of lighting techniques for different environments and moods.
Proficiency with cinema cameras (Sony, RED, Blackmagic, Canon, ARRI, or equivalent).
Knowledge of lenses, camera rigs, stabilizers, drones, and production accessories.
Strong understanding of exposure, color science, camera settings, and image quality.
Experience with multi-camera productions and studio setups.
Familiarity with production monitoring and on-set workflows.
Basic understanding of post-production, color grading, and editing workflows.
Ability to lead camera and lighting crews effectively.
Strong planning, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent time management during fast-paced production schedules.
Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining production quality.
Strong collaboration with Creative Leads, Producers, Editors, and Production teams.
Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate them into visual execution.
Clear communication with crew members and stakeholders throughout production.
