Kavana is an interactive content platform. We are building a creative agent that can act as the story director given an opening and keeps writing as the user progresses in the story. About the Role

We're hiring a creative writer to design branching, choice-driven roleplay stories powered by AI. You'll craft worlds, characters, and scenarios where users step into the narrative and shape the outcome — and write the prompts that let AI run those stories convincingly turn after turn.

What You'll Do

Design original interactive stories across genres (fantasy, romance, mystery, sci-fi, slice-of-life, horror)
Write system prompts that direct AI to act as narrator, NPCs, and game master while staying in tone and character
Build branching structures with meaningful choices, consequences, and multiple endings
Develop character casts with distinct voices, motivations, and relationship arcs that evolve based on user actions
Establish world rules, pacing beats, and tone guardrails so stories don't drift or collapse
Playtest extensively, identify failure modes (repetition, off-character drift, plot dead-ends), and rewrite to fix them
Contribute to marketing these by providing chat plays that bring users to activation.

What We're Looking For

2+ years writing fiction, games, IF, screenplays, or serialized narrative
Demonstrated skill with toon/novel writing or branching narrative - Wattpad, Webnovel, Twine, Ink, ChoiceScript, visual novels, TTRPG modules, or similar
Hands-on experience writing LLM prompts (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, character.ai, AI Dungeon, etc.)
Strong grasp of pacing, stakes, foreshadowing, and how to keep a reader hooked across many turns
Range across genres and tones - playful, dark, romantic, comedic - without losing your voice

Nice to Have

Published IF, visual novels, TTRPG content, or shipped narrative games
GM/DM experience running improvised long-form campaigns
Familiarity with platforms like character.ai, AI Dungeon, NovelAI, or Inworld
Must understand how prompting works for roleplay
