Doctor visits in India are inconvenient, episodic and generic. We’re building Q — an AI-led health assistant that's always accessible, personalized, and continuous, with experienced doctors in the loop.
We're 2X founders who have previously built and exited a YC-backed AI data company. We are well funded by some of India’s top unicorn founders and VCs. Learn more on why we’re building Q.
We’re looking for a Founding Engineer — Applied AI to build the product and technical systems that power Q across both patients and doctors.
Your goal is simple to describe and hard to solve: make Q better at understanding, reasoning about, and responding to health problems safely and reliably.
Build the core patient-facing and doctor-facing products.
Design workflows connecting patients, AI, doctors, and healthcare partners.
Build AI-powered features using agents, tool calling, memory, and model APIs.
Own architecture across APIs, databases, workflows, integrations, and infrastructure.
Build systems for health history, reports, consultations, follow-ups, and care journeys.
Work closely with founders, designers, doctors, and clinical AI teams to turn AI capabilities into simple, reliable products.
Ship fast, learn from users, and continuously improve what we build.
Must have
4–7 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience.
At least 1 year building AI / LLM-powered products.
Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, distributed systems, and dev ops.
Experience taking products from idea → production → scale.
Experience with agents, tool integrations, RAG, memory and applied AI systems.
Strong product instincts and comfort owning ambiguous problems end-to-end.
Good to have
Experience in an early-stage startup.
Experience building consumer products or multi-sided products.
Strong Python / TypeScript experience.
Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, queues, vector databases, and dev ops.
Experience building real-time, conversational, or AI-native products.
Have an itch to startup but never been able to take a leap of faith.
Comfortable working in a high-ownership, ambiguous 0→1 environment.
A builder, not a manager who thinks beyond prompts and model APIs.
Relentlessly investigates failures: why the model was wrong and how to prevent it.
Strong first-principles thinker who can turn ambiguous clinical problems into measurable AI problems.
Experienced founders who have previously built/exited a YC-backed startup.
Build the health assistant that you’d want for your parents, partner and kids.
You’ll get extreme autonomy and huge sense of responsibility
Work on hard problems across reasoning, memory, retrieval, evaluations.
Unique multidisciplinary environment bringing engineers and doctors together.
