Manufacturing floors run on expertise. The practiced hands of an operator who has loaded a press ten thousand times. The judgment of a line worker who knows exactly how to seat a connector. The instinct built over years of working with real machines and real parts. That expertise has never been scalable. It lives in people, retires with them, and cannot be deployed on demand.
We are changing that. We build humanoid robots that absorb this expertise and deploy it back onto the factory floor as consistent, scalable industrial intelligence, built for real conditions, real tasks, and real outcomes. Not labs. Not demos. Working factories.
The opportunity is enormous. Physical manufacturing is one of the largest labor markets in the world, and almost all of it still runs on human hands. Every industry that runs repetitive, manipulation-heavy work on a factory floor is in scope. We are at the start of a fundamental shift in how physical work gets done, and we are building the foundational technology to lead it.
The Proving Grounds is our in-house facility where humanoids are deployed and tested on real manufacturing tasks, the same tasks they will perform in customer factories. It is a live industrial environment: real machines, real parts, factory-representative conditions. This is where deployment capability is built, task performance is validated, and operators are developed.
The Head of Operations, Proving Grounds owns this facility entirely. Think of it as a plant operations role in an early-stage context. You run the day-to-day, manage the machines, design the tasks robots are tested on, administer the facility, drive station expansion, and own safety end-to-end. Safety is core to the role, not an addendum. You are running industrial machines alongside human operators and robots, and zero-incident operations is the standard.
This is a rare role. You will work directly with humanoid robots on real industrial tasks, at the cutting edge of humanoid industrialisation. The breadth is real and intentional. In a single week you might commission a new press station, design a task protocol for a new manipulation challenge, run a certification trial, troubleshoot a machine fault, and negotiate a service contract. The Proving Grounds is yours to run, grow, and shape.
Operations. Run the day-to-day of the facility. Schedule and manage robot certification trials across the full station set. Coordinate deployment cycles with the engineering team. Track trial data and issue deployment-readiness assessments. Hold the cadence of a live industrial operation, not a project but a running facility.
Machine operations. Own the health and uptime of every machine in the facility: stamping presses, assembly benches, conveyor systems, packaging lines, injection moulding machines, electronics assembly fixtures, CNC stations, and more. The set grows as we take on new deployment types. Own maintenance schedules, manage breakdowns, and manage relationships with OEM service teams. The facility runs because you keep it running.
Task design and prototyping. Work with the engineering team to define, design, and iterate on the manipulation tasks humanoids are trained and validated against. This covers station layout, fixture setup, part flow design, tooling selection, and the environmental conditions each station replicates. You are designing the real-world ground truth that robot capability is measured against.
Station expansion. The facility grows on a continuum as we take on new deployment types. You own the full lifecycle of each new station: specifying requirements, coordinating procurement, managing installation, commissioning, and integrating it into the certification program. Stations span metal forming, sub-assembly, packaging, electronics, surface finishing, and inspection, and expand in line with customer deployment priorities.
Facility administration. Own the facility budget. Manage vendor relationships for consumables, tooling, spare parts, and service contracts. Coordinate building services, security, and housekeeping. Handle operational administration end-to-end. You are accountable for the facility as a whole, not just the machines in it.
Operator management. Recruit, acclimatise, train, and certify the operators who work in the facility. Define and enforce the pass gate. Operators work alongside running industrial machines, and their safety and performance are your responsibility.
Safety. You own the safety of the environment end-to-end: guarding, interlocks, operating procedures, and safety reviews when new machines or processes are introduced. Zero-incident operations is the standard. This responsibility is non-delegatable.
A facility operations leader, not a program manager. You have run a manufacturing cell, test facility, or plant, rather than managed a project inside one. You take accountability for outcomes, not activities. You know what it takes to keep industrial machines running, manage a team on the floor, and hold a safe operational environment together.
Technical range. You are comfortable with industrial machines and understand how they work. You can engage substantively with robotics and automation engineers about why a task is failing and what the environment might be doing to it. You do not need to write robot code, but you need to understand the system well enough to be a credible partner to the engineers who do.
Task and process thinking. You can take a manufacturing task and decompose it into its physical requirements: fixturing, part presentation, motion envelope, environmental factors. You can design a test environment that faithfully replicates a real factory station. This is the creative, engineering-adjacent part of the job that makes it genuinely interesting.
Operational rigour. You run by metrics: facility uptime, trial throughput, certification velocity, machine availability. You know your binding constraint each week and you drive it to resolution.
Ownership at full breadth. You are equally comfortable owning the safety architecture and the housekeeping vendor. You do not silo yourself. You surface problems early and act without waiting to be told.
• Min. 8 years in industrial operations, manufacturing engineering, or technical facility management.
• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing plant or test facility with real industrial machines. A mechanical engineering background with plant exposure is a strong plus.
• A track record of running safe industrial operations: guarding, interlocks, operating procedures.
• Exposure to automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing is a significant plus.
• Based in Bangalore or willing to relocate.
A support function. A program management job. A role where someone else sets the direction and you execute against it.
This is a facility leadership role at a startup moving fast. You will define processes that do not exist, make calls with incomplete information, and be directly accountable for the operational capability that lets us deploy robots to customer factories.
