Renting in India can be a nightmare. Think about it: visiting countless houses, arguing over rent, losing money to brokers, sticking to 11-month contracts, and spending lakhs of rupees into furnishing. It's a lot, and honestly, we deserve better.
This is where Flent comes in. We're creating a new standard of urban renting for India.
Imagine walking into a home that feels like it’s straight out of a lifestyle magazine - fully furnished, beautifully staged, all you need to bring is your clothes and your vibe. No need to persuade landlords, no dealing with brokers, and no 11-month lock-ins. It’s not just a vision; it’s what we believe the top 1% in India truly deserves.
We started Flent because we were fed up. Trying to find a decent place in the city was a nightmare. But beyond the frustration was a deep-seated passion for home decor and an eye for detail that we couldn't ignore. Numbers revealed that ~$10 Bn is spent annually on urban renting — and that was the tipping point. It convinced us of the potential to craft the future of renting, designed for those who demand more and compromise less.
Flent is backed by top-tier VCs and angels. Since our inception in Jan’24, we’ve launched 250+ homes in Bangalore, went viral on X more than we imagined, and crossed $1,000,000 in annual GMV.
Hey, I’m Purva! 👋🏼
I was one of the early people to join Flent, and today I lead Design Ops.
When I started, a lot of my time went into figuring out how to design and set up individual homes. What furniture should go where, how a space should feel, which vendors to work with, and how to turn an empty apartment into a home someone would actually love living in.
As we've grown, I've realised that designing a great home is one challenge. Figuring out how to design hundreds of great homes, consistently, is an entirely different one.
That's what occupies a lot of my time today.
I'm thinking about the systems, processes, vendor networks and capabilities we'll need when we're setting up 200, 500 or even 1,000 homes. How do we move faster without cutting corners? How do we make good design repeatable? How do we solve problems before they become bottlenecks?
But none of that changes the fact that every individual home still matters.
Because a Flent home should feel like a Flent home, whether it's our 10th or our 1,000th.
I'm looking for someone who enjoys the creative process of designing a home just as much as the messy, on-ground work of bringing it to life.
Someone who cares about how a space looks, but cares equally about whether it actually works.
Beautiful homes are easy to imagine. Bringing them to life, on time, within budget, and without compromising the details, is much harder.
As a Product Ops Associate (Design), you'll be responsible for turning empty apartments into thoughtfully designed, fully functional Flent homes.
You'll work on everything from layouts, moodboards and furniture selection to vendor coordination, on-ground execution and final quality checks.
This isn't a role where you create designs and hand them over to someone else to execute.
You'll own the journey from the first design idea to the final home.
Some days will be spent thinking about colours, furniture, lighting and layouts. Others will involve chasing vendors, figuring out why something doesn't fit, finding alternatives when products aren't available, or fixing the smallest details before a resident moves in.
You'll work closely with Purva, our Procurement team and the broader Operations team to make sure every home looks good, functions well and is ready on time.
Design homes people actually want to live in
Understand each property's layout, constraints and potential. Develop design concepts, moodboards and furniture layouts that balance aesthetics, functionality, budgets and the needs of our residents. Good design isn't just about making a space photograph well. It's about making everyday life better.
Turn designs into finished homes
Own the execution of home setups from start to finish. Translate your ideas into actionable plans, coordinate the work on-ground, solve problems as they come up and make sure the finished home stays true to what you envisioned.
Make vendors deliver
Work with carpenters, electricians, painters, installers and other vendors. Communicate requirements clearly, coordinate their work, follow up relentlessly and hold people accountable for timelines and quality. A good design means very little if it isn't executed well.
Work closely with Procurement & Operations
Figure out what furniture, materials and products each home needs. Work with Procurement on availability, sourcing and alternatives, and with Operations to ensure everything comes together for a smooth handover.
Be the last line of defence on quality
Inspect homes before they're handed over. Notice the misaligned fixtures, poor finishes, awkward furniture placements and things that don't work as intended. Make sure the final output meets Flent's standards, not just what's convenient to deliver.
Help us get better with every home
Every setup will teach us something. Identify recurring problems, document what works and contribute to the design standards, processes and play books that will help us set up the next hundred homes better than the last hundred.
No two days will look exactly the same.
You might spend your morning designing a newly acquired apartment, your afternoon at an active setup site coordinating with vendors, and your evening figuring out why a particular piece of furniture doesn't work in the space you originally planned for it.
On a typical day, you could be:
Visiting newly acquired properties to understand their layouts, constraints and design possibilities.
Creating moodboards, furniture layouts and design plans for upcoming Flent homes.
Selecting furniture, materials, finishes, lighting and other elements that bring a space together.
Translating designs into clear requirements for Procurement and execution vendors.
Spending time at active setup sites, reviewing progress and making sure work is happening as intended.
Troubleshooting on-ground problems, whether that's an installation issue, a delayed vendor or a product that doesn't fit.
Conducting final quality checks and getting every last detail fixed before a home is handed over.
Working with the team to improve how we design, procure and set up homes at scale.
You'll spend a meaningful amount of time outside the office, at properties and setup sites across Bangalore.
Has 1–3 years of experience in interior design, home styling, residential project execution, hospitality, co-living or a related field.
Has a good eye for design. You understand proportions, layouts, colours, materials and what makes a space feel cohesive. More importantly, you know that good design needs to be functional.
Enjoys making things, not just imagining them. You get as much satisfaction from seeing a finished home as you do from putting together a beautiful moodboard.
Takes ownership. If you're responsible for a home, you care about everything that goes into making it ready, even the parts that aren't particularly creative or exciting.
Is comfortable working with vendors and people on-ground. You can communicate clearly, negotiate when needed, follow up persistently and get things done.
Has a sharp eye for detail. You notice when something feels off, even if nobody else has pointed it out.
Is organised enough to manage multiple setups, timelines and moving parts without constantly needing reminders.
Can think on your feet. Things will go wrong, products won't arrive, vendors will delay work, and plans will change. You're someone who finds a way forward.
Doesn't mind getting their hands dirty. You're happy spending time at sites, measuring spaces, checking installations and figuring things out yourself.
Is curious about building better systems, not just completing the next project.
A formal interior design degree is a plus, but not a requirement.
We care much more about your taste, your ability to execute, and the ownership you bring to your work.
