We’re looking for a curious, culture-driven Handloom Designer who believes tradition can move with the world. This role is designed for young creators who love craft, travel, and flexible work culture. If you enjoy exploring textile stories and transforming heritage into contemporary design, this nomadstyle opportunity is for you. Work from Studio and remotely, collaborate digitally, and occasionally travel to artisan clusters to co-create meaningful collections.
• Design contemporary handloom textiles rooted in Indian weaving traditions.
• Develop mood boards, colour stories, motifs, and weave-ready layouts.
• Research craft clusters, youth fashion trends, and sustainable design directions.
• Collaborate with artisans, weavers, and creative teams through digital platforms.
• Create designs suitable for both handloom production and digital textile platforms.
• Translate traditional techniques into modern, Gen Z–friendly aesthetics.
• Contribute to visual storytelling for e-commerce, branding, and social media.
• Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design / Fashion Design or related field from reputed institutes
such as NIFT, NID, IIHT, IICD or equivalent design schools.
• Strong academic understanding of Handloom weaving techniques, textile materials, and
surface design.
• 1–2 years of professional experience in handloom, textile, or craft-based design.
• Experience working with artisan clusters or handloom brands is a mandatory.
Skills & Tools
• Hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Familiarity with digital textile and print platforms such as Spoonflower and I Design (or
similar design tools).
• Strong knowledge of Indian weaving patterns, motifs, and textile storytelling.
• Ability to create fusion designs combining tradition with contemporary youth culture.
• Visual communication skills — mood boards, presentations, and digital sketches.
• A design-first thinker who respects heritage but pushes creative boundaries.
• Comfortable with remote collaboration and flexible schedules.
• Passionate about slow fashion, sustainability, and cultural storytelling.
• Self-driven, curious, and open to travel and cultural immersion.
