We’re hiring a React Native Developer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and building high-quality mobile applications.

You’ll be working on an interactive video-based entertainment product where users watch cinematic videos, make choices, and continue through branching storylines. We want the experience to feel like a real game rather than a traditional video application.

About the role

A major engineering challenge is creating a continuous experience where, after a video finishes, the user sees choices and the selected next video starts with minimal perceived loading.
This requires careful handling of video playback, streaming, buffering, preloading, caching, memory management, networking, and performance.
The app will be built using React Native, but we expect the engineer to understand what happens underneath React Native as well.

What we’re looking for

Strong understanding of React Native rendering, JavaScript and UI threads, concurrency and multithreading, mobile application lifecycle, memory management, performance optimization, and platform-specific behaviour on both iOS and Android.
Comfortable building smooth animations and interactive experiences that feel natural and game-like, with an understanding of frame rates, rendering performance, and UI responsiveness.
Ability to work across React Native and native mobile layers when required and investigate problems involving performance, memory, rendering, networking, or media playback.
Experience with video-heavy applications, streaming, caching/preloading, advanced animations, or performance-sensitive mobile applications is a strong plus.
We’re more interested in strong engineering fundamentals, problem-solving ability, ownership, and understanding how things work under the hood than experience with a long list of frameworks or libraries.
