Role Description
The Director of Capacity Planning is a full-time role responsible for designing and leading capacity planning processes across client engagements and internal operations. This role oversees forecasting of demand, resource allocation, and utilization to ensure teams are optimally staffed and projects are delivered on time and within budget. Day-to-day activities include building and maintaining capacity models, analyzing workload and staffing data, and partnering with consulting leaders to balance project pipelines with available talent. The Director collaborates with finance, operations, and project teams to develop scenario plans, identify constraints, and recommend actionable solutions to improve efficiency and performance. This position also contributes to developing best practices, tools, and governance for capacity planning, and communicates insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders in a clear, data-driven manner.
Qualifications
Strong experience in capacity planning, resource management, and operational forecasting within consulting, professional services, or complex project environments.
Advanced analytical skills, including quantitative analysis, modeling, and translating data into practical recommendations for senior leaders.
Proficiency with planning and analytics tools (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets at an advanced level, BI tools, resource management or PSA platforms).
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions, align stakeholders, and communicate complex concepts clearly in written and verbal formats.
Proven track record in process design and continuous improvement, including building scalable frameworks, workflows, and governance for planning activities.
Experience working in or with executive-level teams (CEOs, CMOs, CFOs, COOs or similar) and comfort operating in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a setting.
Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, finance, analytics, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are beneficial.
